GPS Data

When we did the Tour of Mont Blanc in 2004 we carried a Garmin Geko 301 GPS device. This allowed us to record every step we took. Well, almost, as the GPS accuracy is only to 10 metres or so, and it can momentarily lose contact with the satellites.
There are 2 types of files here:
• GPX files which can be uploaded into any GPS device and then followed as a trail.
• KML files which can be opened in Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/) to see the path displayed on a detailed satellite image.
KML file sizes are 1 - 1.5 MB, the kml of the whole route is 16MB (right click each file to save)
| Day 1 | GPX | KML |
| Day 2 | GPX | KML |
| Day 3 | GPX | KML |
| Day 4 | GPX | KML |
| Day 5 | GPX | KML |
| Day 6 | GPX | KML |
| Day 7 | GPX | KML |
| Day 8 | GPX | KML |
| Day 9 | GPX | KML |
| Day 10 | GPX | KML |
| Day 11 | GPX | KML |
| Day 12 | GPX | KML |
| Whole tour | GPX | KML |
If your GPS device uses a different file format you can convert the GPX track with G7ToWin, a freeware program that allows you to convert between many different file types. You can also use it to edit tracks and waypoints, as well as transfer of data between GPS device and PC.
